Notice Of Commencement – October 12, 2007
McGraw Falls Water Power (MFWP) is proposing to develop a 2 MW hydro-electric plant on the Matawin River at the McGraw Falls Dam, 7km Southwest of Shabaqua Corners. This will be a 'Run-of-River' Development with intermittent peaking ability using the existing reservoir upstream. The powerhouse will be located approximately 150m down stream of the dam. A wood pole distribution line will run 7km morthwest along the existing roadway to the Shabaqua Distribution Station. The map below shows the project location.
The project is subject to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment's Environmental Screening Process for Electricity Projects and the Ministry of Natural Resources Waterpower Program Guidelines.
MFWP has retained ORTECH Power and KBM Forestry Consultants Inc. to assist them in this environmental screening process.
